10 Ways to Support The Smile Project on Our Ten Year Anniversary

We cannot believe we are celebrating our 10th birthday today. Thank you to everyone who has tirelessly supported us through SPARK Clubs, road trips, Birthday Givebacks, and everything in between. You mean the world to us. And, because folks are always asking how they can be more involved, we thought today would be a perfect opportunity to share some ideas:

  1. Let’s start simple: give us a follow! Follow our pages on Instagram (@thesmileprojectofficial) and Facebook and comment, like, share, and engage with us. We also have a monthly newsletter that you can sign up for on our website.

  2. And, did you know you can also follow some of our SPARK Clubs on social media? Check out the Slippery Rock University SPARK Instagram (@sruspark_club) and the Westminster College SPARK Instagram (@westminster_sparkclub).

  3. We’d be completely remiss to not immediately mention what we affectionately call “The Bubble Site.” The Bubble Site is our digital database of every “Happiness is” ever written. Bookmark it for a rainy day. And, a pro tip: our favorite part is searching for the birthdays or anniversaries of the people we love using the “date” search function.

  4. Speaking of “Happiness is,” did you know you can start your own journey for daily joy? Our Ambassador program encourages folks to prioritize their gratitude practice by recording Happiness is (in a notebook, on their phone, or through a social media account). We love our Ambassadors!

  5. If you’re a student or educator, you can check out our SPARK program. SPARK stands for Strengthening Positivity and Reinforcing Kindness and these student-led groups are designed to spread joy and kindness in their communities.

  6. Our Birthday Giveback program is available to anyone who would like to use their birthday as an agent for kindness or anyone who would like to honor the birthday of a loved one by organizing a kindness project.

  7. Did you know that Liz, our founder, is a public speaker? She presents on topics of—you guessed it—joy and gratitude… but also overcoming obstacles, the importance of never giving up on the things that matter most, and the power of every day kindness. If you’d like to bring Liz to your school or community organization, reach out.

  8. Volunteer! If you are passionate about making the world a kinder and more joyful place, we would love to connect with you. Whether your background is in graphic design, development, writing, social media, or something you’re still figuring out, we’d love to have a conversation about how you can support our efforts.

  9. Make a donation. At the end of the day, we are a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization and your support keeps the website running and helps us develop new programming and expand our offerings. And, everyone who donates today will receive a Smile Project sticker and be entered to win additional Smile Project swag.

  10. Tell someone you love them. I know, I know, it may not directly tie into the rest of these ideas, but we really believe in encouraging simple acts of daily goodness and if you were to tag a friend in this post and write a note about how much you appreciate them, that would be the best birthday gift we could ever ask for.

Love always,

Liz
